| Welding Grey and Nodular Cast Iron at Low Heat |
| A low heat input electrode for welding of cast iron
components giving a very soft and highly ductile deposit
with extreme crack resistance and easy machinability. |
| |
| It has a very soft, smooth and stable arc ensuring
minimum dilution with base metal and leaves a thin
easily detachable slag. |
| |
| ALLOY BASE |
| Ni, Si, Fe |
| |
| SPECIAL FEATURES |
- Crackless joints in weldable cast iron grades
- Non-fluid slag removed by brushing only
|
| APPLICATIONS |
| Joining of cast iron to itself, surfacing of cast iron
components, salvaging of casting defects as found
in cast iron gears and pulleys, water pump housing,
cylinder blocks, lathe beds, sugar mill rolls, dies, etc. |
| |
| PROPERTIES |
| UTS : 30-33 kg / mm2 |
| |
| WELDING PROCEDURE |
- When welding thick sections, preheating upto 150 - 200°C is desired
- Welding area should be cleaned of scales, grease,
impurities, oil and dirt
- Welding should be done in stringer beads / skip
welding / backstep welding
- Reinforcing studs should be used when the volume
of weld metal required is more
- Light peening of the weld metal is advisable, when
still hot, to minimize shrinkage stresses
